Westlake manufactures two primary petrochemicals within the Olefins business segment – ethylene and styrene monomer. Most of our ethylene production supplies our internal needs in the polyethylene and vinyls businesses.
In 2014, we formed Westlake Chemical Partners (NYSE: WLKP), a limited partnership formed by Westlake Chemical Corporation to operate, acquire and develop ethylene production facilities and related assets. Our business and operations are conducted through OpCo, a recently-formed partnership between Westlake Chemical Corporation and Westlake Chemical Partners. The assets included in this partnership include three ethylene production facilities in Calvert City, Kentucky, and Lake Charles, Louisiana, with an annual capacity of approximately 3.4 billion pounds and a 200-mile ethylene pipeline. Westlake ethylene also supplies our styrene plant, which produces the primary raw material for polystyrene, coatings, unsaturated polyester resins and other derivatives. We also have implemented the most modern safety and environmental technologies to reduce emissions well below regulated levels and ensure the safety of our employees and surrounding community.
